🔥Guinness World Record Braai Attempt — Let’s Make History!

🎯 Goal: 100-Hour Longest Braai (Barbecue) Record Attempt
Join local co-owner Gielie Basson as he re-attempts a world record that’s about more than fire and meat — it’s about putting Calitzdorp, the Klein Karoo, and the community on the world stage.
🏆 The Mission
In 2023, Gielie braaied non-stop for 84 hours in a bid to break the Guinness World Record for the longest barbecue, currently held by Jan Greeff (80 hours). Unfortunately, a timekeeping technicality meant the attempt wasn’t recognized.
But this September, Gielie is back — aiming for 100 continuous hours of solo braaiing. No help, no shortcuts. Just pure South African endurance, proudly Calitzdorp-style!

💛 It’s About Community
While the flames burn, the goal isn’t just a record — it’s also to give back.
All the food braaied will be donated to local heroes (emergency services) and Gamka East Primary School.
No food will be sold, and nothing will go to waste.
Fundraising efforts aim to build shaded structures at the school’s rugby field to protect kids during playtime.
